Fun Lake Tahoe Tree Trivia

We love our local Lake Tahoe trees as much as you do.  We all live here for the clean air, adventure, great people and gorgeous rivers, lakes and forests.  One of our favorite charities is the Arbor Day Foundation and this fun tree trivia is from their “thank you for donating” activity book.  Enjoy!

How well do you know trees?  Ask your friends, make it a bet or a drinking game – all up to you …

  1.  How old is the oldest tree in the United States?
  2. How many people rely on forests for clean drinking water in the United States?
  3. How many species of trees are there in the United States?
  4. How many trees does the average American use each year in paper, wood, and other tree products?
  5. Baseball bats are made out of wood from which species of tree?
  6. How many gallons of maple sap are needed to make one gallon of maple syrup?
  7. At what rate will most tree seedlings grow per year?
  8. What is the biggest tree in the world in terms of overall height and circumference?

Don’t look … write down your answers … see below to see how well you know our local Lake Tahoe Trees:

  1. Methuselah, a pine tree in California, is 4,800 years old!
  2. 180 million.
  3. 850 species.
  4. 7
  5. Ash
  6. 30-40 gallons of maple sap to yield one gallon of syrup!
  7. Most tree seedlings will grow about 1 foot per year.
  8. The General Sherman giant sequoia in California.  102 foot circumference and 207 feet tall!

We hope you enjoyed this and had fun.  Feel free to contact us if you have any more fun tree trivia questions and answers – we’ll add it to this page.
