If your house or building is along the Lake Tahoe shore, a permit is required to remove any trees greater than 6 inches diameter at breast height (4.5 feet high) of the tree [DBH] between your house and the lake. If you are not along the lake shore, you must procure a permit for any tree greater than 14 inches DBH.
